Overview

Our summer program is expressly designed to accommodate the diverse interests of law students. Summer associates have the opportunity to work with different attorneys in a variety of disciplines, sampling multiple practice areas as they evaluate which type of law they will practice.

Summer associates experience all aspects of the legal profession, from conducting legal research to drafting memoranda, complaints and agreements. Summer associates don't just stay behind the scenes. Instead, they accompany our lawyers to depositions, hearings, trials, client meetings, negotiations and closings.

In addition, summer associates work with the Anti-Defamation League as part of a Pro Bono project. The Anti-Defamation League's purpose is to see civil rights upheld, and advocate for fair treatment of every citizen.

Each summer associate is assigned a mentor at Brownstein who is typically a third- to fifth-year Associate. The mentors assist each summer associate during the program with the transition from law school to law firm, answering questions, giving feedback and providing guidance.
