Zhonette M. Brown

A member of the firm's Litigation Group, Zhonette's practice focuses on commercial and complex litigation involving commercial contract disputes, business torts, technical or science issues, and securities matters and investigations.

Zhonette has defended multiple billion dollar financial fraud and misrepresentation cases, multi-district litigation and class actions in state and federal courts. Zhonette has also arbitrated disputes in domestic and international forums, and conducted bankruptcy-related litigation on behalf of debtors and creditors. Her practice has covered the chemicals, automotive components, independent power production, software, plastics, telecommunications, oil and gas, financial services and homebuilding industries.

Prior to joining the firm, Zhonette was a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Washington DC. She served as a law clerk for The Honorable Marvin J. Garbis of the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, in Baltimore from 1998 to 1999.

Representative Matters

Successfully defended a client against most charges in a broad market conduct examination by the Colorado Division of Insurance, and representing the client on appeal of a single significant adverse ruling before the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Successfully defended a medical malpractice insurer against charges in market conduct examination by the Colorado Division of Insurance; represented the insurer on appeal of an adverse ruling before the Colorado Court of Appeals
Represented the officers and directors of Teletech Holdings Inc. in the $11 million settlement of a class action securities fraud case in the Southern District of New York and a shareholder derivative case in Delaware involving allegations of options backdating.
Represented the owner of the Landmark Condominiums and a retail mixed-use development in the $30 million DIP financing facility for Hypo Real Estate Capital, priming existing liens.
