Case Studies We've turned beachcombing into a community project for keeping beaches cleaner |
On a warm late September Saturday in Santa Barbara, a small but determined group of Brownstein employees stormed the city’s much-beloved East Beach on a mission — to help keep it clean. They were participating in United Way of Santa Barbara’s 2008 Day of Caring and California Coastal Clean-Up Day, as a way to give back to the communities where we live, work and play.
When all was said and done, on that day, 500+ volunteers picked up over a ton of trash and nearly 600 pounds of recyclables from 19 local beaches stretching some 35 miles along Santa Barbara County’s beautiful coast. We are proud that Brownstein played a small role in showing community support for our shared natural resources.
Giving back is a cornerstone of Brownstein and has been formalized by our Community Relations department’s Karma Committees in each office. We believe a profession is what one does, not who one is. Our founders have established a culture that not only fosters the development of great lawyers, but also demands a steadfast commitment to serving our community both as a firm and as individuals. We encourage every attorney and staff member to find a cause they’re passionate about and get involved.
The United Way of Santa Barbara’s Day of Caring is a community-focused project where volunteers work at over 50 local charitable organizations. California Coastal Cleanup Day is the country’s premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment.
