Firm continues to grow its notable employment law group with top tier talent
The law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that respected labor and employment attorney Christine A. Samsel has joined the firm as a shareholder in its employment group. Samsel previously was head of the labor and employment group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld in its former McLean, Va. office, and most recently was based in Akin Gump’s Washington, D.C. office.
Samsel will be based in Brownstein's Denver office and will assist in expanding Brownstein's existing labor and employment practice in California. Her practice focuses on advising companies on all aspects of labor and employment law. She conducts due diligence for companies and investors with respect to labor and employment issues in corporate transactions and financial restructuring. She assists in implementing reductions in force, and negotiates employment contracts and severance agreements. Samsel also represents clients in affirmative action, wage-and-hour, immigration compliance and employment policy audits conducted internally and by federal and state agencies. Looked to as a leading resource on current labor and employment issues, Samsel frequently advises, counsels on and litigates Title III matters and conducts in-house training for clients on various topics, including sexual harassment.
With extensive trial and arbitration experience in employment-related matters, Samsel has defended companies and management in employment litigation and administrative proceedings. She also has prosecuted and defended unfair competition and trade secret claims, and has significant appellate experience in the employment area and general civil litigation context. Throughout her extensive career, Samsel has handled a wide variety of federal, state and local administrative proceedings before the EEOC, the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs and comparable state and local agencies.
Before joining Akin Gump in 2001, Samsel was a partner at Troop Steuber Pasich Reddick & Tobey in Los Angeles. She received her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Smith College. Samsel is admitted to practice in California, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and her admission in Colorado is pending.
