Nicole R. Ament, a real estate shareholder at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently appointed to the Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver Board of Directors. As a board member, Ament will utilize her background in real estate to help the nonprofit achieve its goals. A longtime supporter of Habitat for Humanity, Ament believes strongly in the organization’s mission and efforts to positively develop affordable housing in the Denver community.
Founded by volunteers in 1979 as an affiliate of the international organization, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver builds and sells homes to families who need decent, affordable housing. Honored by Habitat for Humanity as National Affiliate of the Year in 2005, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver has built more than 395 homes to house more than 1,700 people. Habitat homeowners participate in a rigorous screening process and must complete 250-500 hours of sweat-equity work to construct their dwellings. Occupants are responsible for a monthly mortgage payment, and they take Home Buyer Education classes to increase economic independence and self-reliance.
