Drew C. Littman

Policy Director

Background

Driven political strategist and messenger in high-stakes situations. Relationship-builder with Senate Democrats. Trusted advisor to incoming U.S. senators and their transition teams.

Drew Littman’s deep, institutional knowledge of the U.S. Senate and relationships with Democrats across the caucus is leveraged to defuse crisis situations and pursue legislative opportunities. He blends advocacy and communications strategies to mitigate government scrutiny, understanding how the slightest nuances in political messaging can impact outcomes.

Having served as chief of staff in the U.S. Senate and as senior counselor in the Department of Health and Human Services, Drew understands the unique operations of legislative offices and cabinet departments. He provides access to Democrats at the highest levels in Washington, D.C., from Pennsylvania Avenue to Capitol Hill, and primarily represents companies from the internet and technology; health care; and media and entertainment industries.

Drew’s exhaustive knowledge of policy, process and political history is frequently called upon by government officials. He often guides incoming U.S. senators through the transition process, participates in debate preparation for presidential candidates, and advises cabinet officials prior to their Senate confirmation hearings.

Prior to joining Brownstein, Drew served in the administration of President Barack Obama as senior counselor to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell. Earlier, Drew served as Sen. Al Franken’s (D-MN) chief of staff and spent the first eight years of his career in the office of Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), four of which he served as policy director.

Engaged Senate HELP Committee members and staff to ensure the legislative language made it into the final bill text, which was ultimately passed into law.

  • Advocated on behalf of a travel management company for an expanded definition of companies deemed eligible for the government’s emergency federal loan program.
