Coplan, Joan

With more than 20 years of experience, Joan Coplan will oversee local and regional political work from public affairs strategies for local and national commercial clients, corporate government relations to special events planning for the government relations group. Her extensive experience in communications and political campaigns, including roles on four different presidential campaigns includes various capacities and she has served senators, congressmen, governors, and others, including Ken Salazar, Tom Strickland, Roy Romer, Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Michael Dukakis, and Gary Hart. Joan has a wealth of experience working with community, business, and government leaders at the local, regional, and national levels.

Joan was appointed by President Clinton to serve as the Regional Advocate at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). There, she helped connect small businesses, state and local governments, and trade associations in a six-state region that included Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Utah. She also served as the acting Regional Administrator and oversaw the delivery of SBA services and developed a strategic media strategy to give small businesses a greater voice in Washington and in the states.

Prior to joining the firm she worked with Stratton-Carpenter & Associates where she was a senior consultant and created and managed grassroots outreach programs, large special events and fundraising programs.
