Compliance Specialist

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Washington, D.C. office.  The successful candidate will provide compliance support by implementing systems, procedures, and policies which requires relevant experience in law, ethics, organizational business, finance or statistical analysis

The following are responsibilities for this role as well as characteristics we are seeking:

 

 

  • Provides compliance support by implementing systems, procedures, and policies.

  • Monitors accounting and regulatory guidelines as they relate to financial reporting and documentation.This requires excellent analytical, project management, communication and organizational skills. 

  • Enhances compliance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Must have working knowledge of the LobbyingDisclosure Act (LDA ) law and will have sole responsibility for filing quarterly LDA reports and bi-annual LD-203 reports.

  • Possess basic knowledge of the LDA/GAO audit process.

  • Must have working knowledge of Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) disclosure law and responsible for filing all FARA forms.

  • Must possess knowledge of compliance standards and policies, legal contracts, departmental invoicing, client management, audit techniques, regulatory issues, operations and procedures as they relate to the organization. 

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
