Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck employees in Santa Barbara collected and wrapped scores of gifts for children diagnosed with cancer and the families who support them through the firm's Karma program.
Brownstein’s Santa Barbara office collected 64 gifts throughout November for 36 children benefitted by the Teddy Bear Care Foundation (TBCF), a local nonprofit dedicated to providing financial assistance for families taking care of children with cancer. The office capped the month-long gift collection drive with a wrapping party Nov. 30.
Since it was founded in 2002, TBCF has served more than 1,800 individuals and provided $1.7 million in financial assistance. Through its Project Holiday program, TBCF collects gifts, dinners and decor every holiday season from donors and delivers the items to families’ homes or childrens’ treatment centers. Last year, TCBF gave out 1,002 gifts to sick children.
Brownstein organizes Karma Projects throughout the year to give employees and clients as well as their family and friends the opportunity to give back in their local communities. Karma Committees in each office coordinate one-day projects to support local nonprofits. The firm planned and completed 40 projects last year firmwide.
