Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck congratulates Stan Garnett and our 2017 summer associates who were honored at the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) Mountain States Region’s 2018 Civil Rights Awards Reception on Feb. 7.
Garnett, who will be returning to the firm as a shareholder in March, was honored with a 2018 Civil Rights Award. Garnett will be rejoining Brownstein’s Litigation Department, where he spent 22 years as a trial lawyer before he assumed the role of Boulder County district attorney. The ADL recognized Garnett’s efforts throughout his career as well as his focus on prosecuting economic crimes, hate crimes and crimes in the immigrant and homeless communities during his tenure as a district attorney.
In addition, three of the firm’s 2017 summer associates were honored for their participation in ADL’s Summer Associate Research Program (SARP). Tony Arias, Angela Hygh and William Nobriga were named as one of two teams who won the ADL’s SARP Memo Writing Competition. The Brownstein team wrote a memo regarding discrimination by Uber and Lyft drivers who refused to serve minority customers and analyzed how federal and state anti-discrimination laws would apply to the companies and their independent contractors operating in Colorado.
