General Growth Properties ("GGP"), the nation's second largest retail shopping mall owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April, 2009, and approximately 390 GGP subsidiaries likewise filed for bankruptcy protection. The Bankruptcy Court's rulings have shown a rationale that is noteworthy in its disruption of closely held Lender beliefs that single purpose entity structures would isolate borrowers from the bankruptcy of its parent.
