Effective October 1, 2009, Assembly Bill 146, adopted by the 2009 Nevada Legislature, amends Nevada’s business license requirements and transfers administration of state business licenses from the Nevada Department of Taxation to the Nevada Secretary of State. The new statutes require all persons conducting business in Nevada to obtain a state business license before doing so. With certain exceptions, this requirement applies to all Nevada corporations (excluding nonprofit corporations), limited liability companies (including single-member LLCs), partnerships, limited partnerships and business trusts.
