DOL Publishes Model COBRA Notices Prior to Upcoming April 18 Deadline

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (“ARRA”) includes a temporary subsidy for COBRA health care continuation coverage for individuals who have been involuntarily terminated from employment on or after September 1, 2008, through December 31, 2009. Health plans must notify all current and former participants and beneficiaries about eligibility for the temporary COBRA premium assistance. To assist health plans with this notice requirement, the Department of Labor (“DOL”)has provided four sample notices.
