“Grandfathered health plans” are subject only to a subset of the health care reform provisions imposed by the federal laws enacted in March 2010 (“PPACA”). This newsletter summarizes recently issued interim final regulations that describe in greater detail what is a grandfathered health plan and the circumstances under which a plan may lose its grandfathered health plan status. These regulations generally are effective immediately.
