The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reports that roughly one in seven, or 13.5 percent of adults in Colorado currently use marijuana. In addition, nearly half the adult population of Colorado, 48.9 percent, have tried pot. Marijuana has been legal for recreational use in Colorado since 2012, and the first stores opened January 1, 2014. The study of adults ages 18 and older was conducted in 2014 and released last week. The findings are relevant to Colorado businesses because it is possible to extrapolate from the survey that one in seven of all adult customers, clients or employees apparently used marijuana last year.
