Richard B. Benenson, shareholder at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently named to the Denver Drug Strategy Commission (DDSC). As a commission member, Benenson will advise the Office of Drug Strategy on the implementation of its strategic plan for substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, transition and recovery to reduce substance abuse and misuse in the city and county of Denver.
Created in December 2006 by Mayor John W. Hickenlooper, the 27-member DDSC directs the DODS’ effort for substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, transition and recovery. The DDSC has representatives from substance abuse treatment and prevention, K-12 and higher education, business and foundations, advocacy, public health, public safety, mental health, recovery, faith-based community, parents and youth.
