Eric R. Burris, a shareholder at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently named to the Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors. As a board member, Burris will help guide the strategic direction of the organization and assist with development activities.
Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity advocates affordable housing for all people, citing that it contributes to the strength of families and their surrounding communities. Since 1987, the nonprofit has built more than 100 simple, energy-efficient homes in Albuquerque. Each year, recipients are selected based on need—their income is between 30 and 50 percent of the median. The modest down payments and monthly mortgages of Partner Families are reinvested by Habitat in a revolving fund that helps build more houses.
