Matthew R. Nyberg, an associate at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently appointed to the Youth Opportunity Foundation Board of Directors. As a board member, Nyberg will help organize fundraisers and advance the nonprofit’s mission to facilitate educational and life enhancement opportunities for Denver’s at-risk youth community.
The Youth Opportunity Foundation was founded by a group of Denver friends — self-described philanthropic venture capitalists — who wanted to give back to the community they love. The group uses its network of volunteers, corporate sponsors, strategic partners and beneficiaries to craft unique fundraising events that benefit Denver-based charities serving at-risk youth. The Mustache4Cash/Color4Kids event, for example, yields professional men donning mustaches and professional women streaking their hair with color to raise donations for two organizations: Colorado Youth at Risk and Byrne Urban Scholars. In 2011, the Youth Opportunity Foundation aims to support more than 2,000 kids through a partnership with the Youth Mentor Collaborative.
