Carrie E. Johnson, an associate at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently appointed to the EarthLinks Board of Directors. As a board member, Johnson’s responsibilities will include contributing to fundraising efforts and championing public awareness for the organization.
EarthLinks was founded in 1996 by two women who wanted to combat the fragmentation homelessness and poverty caused in the Colorado community. The organization provides an outlet for at-risk, homeless or low-income individuals to work together to cultivate a garden, and design and create Earth-friendly products from that garden. Members of EarthLinks are involved in all aspects of the production process, from initial garden planting to product design, creating an atmosphere in which every person is an important part of a team. EarthLinks also promotes a sense of community by sponsoring nature trips for its members, which range from hour-long excursions to daylong ventures. EarthLinks aims to provide participants with a sense of belonging that will foster increased trust, creativity and a sense of hope.
