City Council Appoints Albert Kovacs to Citizens Advisory Committee to the Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency

Albert Z. Kovacs, a shareholder at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, has been appointed by the Las Vegas City Council to the Citizens Advisory Committee to the Las Vegas Redevelopment Agency (RDA). During his three-year term, Kovacs and fellow committee members will provide strategic input on incentive programs and projects designed to attract new businesses and revitalize downtown Las Vegas.

“Albert is committed to partnering with the City in developing a vibrant downtown Las Vegas, and his extensive work helping businesses navigate various corporate and commercial transactions underscores the merit of this appointment,” said Ellen Schulhofer, managing partner of the firm’s Las Vegas office. “We’re eager to see what successes emerge in the coming years.”

The RDA was created in 1986 to reverse the degradation of downtown Las Vegas, an area encompassing 3,948 acres. Coordinating with the Las Vegas Economic and Urban Development Department, the RDA works alongside developers, property owners and community associations to stimulate new development and business growth in downtown Las Vegas. There are currently more than $11 billion in proposed and realized developments in the RDA pipeline, including The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the Charlie Palmer boutique hotel and restaurant, and other mixed-use, office, retail and residential complexes.
