Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Rafael R. Garcia-Salgado, Shane C. Griffin, Hannah L. Misner and Charles J. Smith have joined the firm’s Denver office as associates.
Garcia-Salgado is a member of the bankruptcy and restructuring group. His litigation practice focuses on insolvency, including commercial litigation defending financial institutions and corporations, as well as corporate bankruptcy proceedings and creditors’ rights. His recent experience includes defending a large international bank in one of the largest Ponzi schemes in the country’s history. Garcia-Salgado also represented the world’s largest bowling franchise as chapter 11 debtor from 2012 to 2013. He earned his law degree and MBA from Cornell University and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Griffin is a member of the real estate department. His practice focuses on representing clients in the acquisition, development, financing, leasing and disposition of various commercial properties, including office buildings, shopping centers and hotels. He also has experience in performing due diligence in all phases of real estate transactions such as title and survey. Prior to joining the firm, Griffin served as an associate and law clerk at Hassan & Cables, LLC and worked at Spectra Logic in Boulder, Colorado. While in law school, Griffin served as a law clerk at Messner & Reeves, LLP and as a legal intern at Covidien RMS in Boulder, Colorado. He also served as a law clerk at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton and worked as a paralegal for DLA Piper LLP in Los Angeles, California. He is a graduate of the University of Colorado Law School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University.
Misner is a member of the employment group. She counsels and represents clients in employment litigation matters. Prior to joining the firm, Misner was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Shelley Gilman and the Honorable Anne Mansfield in Denver District Court, having served in civil, criminal and domestic divisions. As a judicial law clerk, Misner drafted over 100 substantive orders and jury instructions, and observed countless court proceedings at all stages of litigation. While in law school, Misner practiced as a student attorney in the Civil Litigation Clinic, representing indigent clients on employment and domestic matters. She also served as a law clerk at three civil litigation law firms in Denver, Colorado. Misner is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and earned her bachelor’s degree from Villanova University.
Smith is a member of the real estate department. He focuses his practice on real estate development, land use, negotiating commercial leases, property acquisitions and dispositions, government relations pertaining to real estate, and matters of due diligence and title issues. Smith is a leader who takes pride in solving problems for clients so they can focus their attention on growing their businesses and managing their investments. Prior to joining Brownstein, Smith was an associate at Zakhem Law, LLC, where he also served as a law clerk. Smith worked in Washington, D.C. before becoming an attorney where he served as national chairman of a multi-million-dollar national political organization. He is a graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law and earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver Daniels College of Business.
