Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce the addition of Jessica Diaz as an associate in the Santa Barbara office. Diaz joins the firm’s Energy & Natural Resources Department, an experienced group of attorneys practicing in water, energy, hazardous waste, land use and renewable energy law.
With broad experience in California natural resources law, Diaz counsels clients including energy companies and property owners on land use and water regulatory matters. She will also assist on public law matters, including counsel to a variety of public agencies. Diaz is familiar with the application of regulations including issues related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) and Coastal Act.
Prior to her legal career, Diaz worked in both state and local government, including as a summer law clerk for the California Attorney General’s Natural Resources Section. Her familiarity with public agency work supports her ability to advise clients on environmental compliance. Diaz earned her bachelor’s degree from Harvard College and her law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law, graduating Order of the Coif.
