Brownstein is pleased to announce that Associate Trayton Oakes has been appointed to the Denver Urban Debate League Board of Directors.
In this position, Oakes will spearhead fundraising, advise and oversee league activities for the executive director, staff and organization as a whole and volunteer at league events. He has been involved with the organization since becoming a volunteer during law school in 2013 and had been involved in debate during high school and college.
The Denver Urban Debate League provides opportunities for students in the Denver metro area to learn and achieve through competitive debate activities. The organization’s vision in their mission statement is “that all urban youth graduate from high school prepared to succeed in college and in their careers and to contribute to their communities.”
“(My wife and I) believe strongly in the organization’s work and mission,” Oakes said. “Helping underserved students get involved in a competitive academic activity that improves public speaking skills is incredibly rewarding and important to our community.”
