Brownstein is pleased to announce that Drew Littman has joined the firm’s Government Relations Department as a policy director and will be based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
“Drew’s long history of working on strategic communications and messaging, most recently with the Department of Health and Human Services, adds depth to our talented, bipartisan team,” said Elizabeth Gore, chair of the firm’s Government Relations Department. “He is a great fit as we continue to add top talent.”
After five years in the private sector, working as a principal at Venn Strategies and vice president of government relations at biotechnology company Solazyme, Inc., Littman returned to federal service in May 2016 as senior counselor to Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell, who served as the 22nd United States Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Barack Obama.
From 2009‒2011, Littman served as Sen. Al Franken’s (D-MN) chief of staff where he led a staff of more than 30 and spearheaded all legislative, policy and press initiatives. He spent the first eight years of his career in the office of Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), four of those years as a policy director. He also worked as a principal at Podesta Associates and founded his own firm, Littman Associates.
Littman earned his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his bachelor’s degree at Brandeis University.
