Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Jim Nicholson, senior counsel in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, was honored with the 2018 President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement from Hiring Our Heroes, a program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Nicholson received the award in recognition of his continued support of our nation’s veterans and military families.
Hiring Our Heroes—a program co-founded by Nicholson—is a nationwide initiative to help veterans and military spouses find meaningful employment and has helped more than 30,000 individuals obtain jobs.
As U.S. ambassador to the Holy See and secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, both in the George W. Bush administration, Nicholson has always been aware of the hardships and sacrifices made by America’s service members and their families and is committed to helping them.
Nicholson is a graduate of the U.S. Academy at West Point, and as an Airborne Ranger and paratrooper, he led troops in combat during the Vietnam War. After eight years of active duty, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 22 years, retiring with the rank of colonel.
Along with being senior counsel at the firm, Nicholson is currently a fellow of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of Visitors at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
He was honored at the Eighth Annual Lee Anderson Awards Gala in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 14.
