Background

With a focus on ground-up development, Nick Larson centers his transactional real estate practice on the interplay between private development and public construction/works contracts. He has extensive experience representing developers, equity investors and institutional lenders in real estate acquisitions, dispositions, financings and joint ventures. 

His work also includes urban infill, planned community and condominium development, golf courses and ski resorts, manufactured housing portfolio sales, and negotiation of construction and design contracts, including AIA and DBIA contracts. Nick often partners with the firm’s Corporate Department to handle the real property assets connected to private equity mergers and acquisitions and general corporate transactions.

Nick’s work includes representation of Sterling Ranch Development Company in the ongoing development of the Sterling Ranch master planned community and the recent sale of several hundred residential lots to multiple national homebuilders in a unique, complicated and simultaneously closed transaction. He also represents Vail Resorts in connection with mountain development and retail leasing matters.

Prior to Brownstein, Nick was an associate at a law firm in Washington, D.C., and served as an appellate and trial attorney in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. While in the JAG Corps, Nick earned the Parachutist Badge and was rated among the top two in his class by the staff judge advocate.

Recent Experience

  • Counsel to ClubCorp in its acquisition of seven premier lifestyle golf clubs in residential communities located on the East Coast from Toll Golf, the golf and country club division of Toll Brothers, Inc., the nation’s leading builder of luxury homes.

  • Counsel to Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in connection with the closing of a revolving and term credit facility secured by seventeen fuel retail properties located across two states.
