Travis Norton draws on a wealth of private- and public-sector legal and policy experience in his government relations practice, providing clients with both broad strategic advice and in-depth legal and regulatory analysis.
Prior to joining Brownstein, Travis served as staff director of the Senate Banking Committee’s Housing Subcommittee, tax counsel to Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) and the general counsel of the House Financial Services Committee. Travis also worked for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Center for Capital Markets Competitiveness, where he devised and executed advocacy campaigns relating to consumer financial regulation and corporate governance. Travis focuses much of his practice on tax and financial services policy, offering advice on consumer financial protection, SEC regulation, FinTech, housing finance, financial institution regulation and insurance. He also draws on his experience as general counsel to the House Judiciary Committee to advise clients on intellectual property, bankruptcy, cybersecurity and privacy issues. Travis began his legal career as a restructuring and secured lending attorney at a national law firm in Boston.
Originally from upstate New York, Travis presently resides with his family in Falls Church, Virginia.
