Sterling, Cara R.

Cara Sterling counsels single-employer, multi-employer and governmental funds as well as qualified health plan issuers on ERISA and federal tax compliance. She devotes a significant portion of her practice to the impact of the Affordable Care Act on the design, implementation and administration of health and welfare plans. On behalf of fund clients and their purchasing coalitions, Cara negotiates contracts with service providers, including consultants, third-party administrators, healthcare providers, hospital facilities, pharmacy benefit managers and utilization review companies. Cara also advises clients on HIPAA compliance matters. Additionally, Cara has prepared Section 501 (c)(3) applications for pro bono charitable organizations.

Cara returns to Brownstein after serving as a Director at Shareholder Representative Services LLC and was previously an associate at Latham & Watkins in New York.
