Practice Chair

Greta H. Joynes

Greta H. Joynes

Policy Director

Background

Republican strategist with strong ties to House and Senate commerce committees. Keen interpreter of the evolution of tech policy. Marries communications and advocacy to engage on high-stakes issues.

Greta Joynes is co-chair of the firm’s technology and telecommunications practice. As federal policymakers consider industry-altering laws and regulations on data privacy, supply chain security, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, energy, infrastructure and transportation, Greta positions companies for success. Her technical understanding of clients’ businesses and political intuition on when and how to engage the government on their behalf has resulted in market-changing outcomes for small business coalitions, Series-A startups and Fortune 15 corporations.

Greta leverages her experience as a senior congressional aide to frame issues and pitch policy solutions in ways that resonate with key Republican decision-makers to forge enduring relationships between her clients, the administration and Congress. Whether she is navigating a high-profile antitrust review by the FCC, advocating on a regulatory policy under consideration by the Department of Commerce and the White House, or achieving appropriations wins that propel business growth, Greta works hard to both protect and promote her clients.

Before joining Brownstein, Greta served as deputy chief of staff and legislative director for Rep. John Shimkus (R-IL), where she advised the congressman on the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology and worked closely with the Energy, Health, Environment and Economy subcommittees.
