Sean Bartlett leverages nearly two decades of experience in Washington to design and implement impactful public affairs strategies and campaigns that drive change and respond to crises. His ability to anticipate and adapt in the fast-paced world of policy-focused communications allows him to ensure policymakers consider client concerns.
At the U.S. Department of State, Sean held multiple roles developing policy messaging for the Biden administration, including being named deputy assistant secretary of state for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs. He coordinated media strategy and domestic outreach while leading multiple offices. He also served as a liaison to the Bureau of Legislative Affairs and the lead senior advisor to the department spokesperson, where he coordinated public and internal messaging in the aftermath of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
During his tenure with the Export-Import Bank of the United States, Sean oversaw a multi-million-dollar communications budget to support the bank’s mission. He is also the former director of communications for Center of Global Development think tank, where he led the growth of media operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sean additionally built his experience on Capitol Hill, directing communications for the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee under Ranking Member Ben Cardin (D-MD) and for the office of Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL). While working for Rep. Wasserman Schultz, he held a senior communications position at the Democratic National Committee during the 2016 election cycle.
