Brownstein Celebrates 20th Anniversary of D.C. Office

October 08, 2015

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is celebrating a milestone: its 20th anniversary in Washington, D.C. From a law firm founded nearly 50 years ago in Denver, Norm Brownstein set out to create a lobbying shop in D.C. that today is ranked No. 3 in the country, thanks to a proven track record helping clients successfully navigate the maze of politics and policy.

“One day in 1995, I decided not only do I want to participate in the dialogue and issues confronting American-Israel relations, but other issues affecting the economy,” Brownstein recently told The Wall Street Journal about starting the Washington, D.C., office. “I decided I wanted to be embroiled in the middle of it. I knew I would be competing with the D.C. establishment, and I said that’s okay.”

Today, Brownstein’s bipartisan team of approximately 30 attorneys and policy professionals based in D.C. includes veteran strategists, campaign operatives, a former senator and a cabinet secretary, a party chair, former senior House and Senate Capitol Hill staff, former career and appointed senior executive branch officials, state elected officials and former high-ranking federal and state attorneys general staffers in addition to a bevy of experienced lobbyists. Their work includes legislative consulting, lobbying, policy development, public relations strategy, political messaging and representation in front of Congress, federal agencies and regulatory bodies.

“I joined this Government Relations team because of the vast opportunities presented by a national firm invested in building a bipartisan team positioned at the forefront of legislation,” said Marc Lampkin, Government Relations Department co-chair and Washington, D.C., office managing partner. “I’m proud to work alongside this respected group of attorneys and policy professionals."

The Washington, D.C., office commemorated its 20 years of impacting public policy with a Fall Congressional Outlook Roundtable on September 16 and will celebrate with an event being held October 8 at the Newseum.

Congratulations to the firm and to the Government Relations Department on 20 years of successful work in D.C. and many more to come.
