Mark Mathews and Ronda Sandquist Listed Among DBJ’s 2018 “Who’s Who in Energy”

November 26, 2018

The Denver Business Journal included two Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck shareholders on its 2018 list of “Who’s Who in Energy.”

Mark Mathews and Ronda Sandquist were among the individuals profiled for their influence in Denver’s ever-changing energy industry. In its eighth year, the Denver Business Journal makes its selections for Who’s Who in Energy based on industry outreach, research and nominations in sectors ranging from accounting and finance to law and education.

Mark’s practice concentrates on oil and gas, environmental and land use law. His practice involves many of the major disputes facing the energy industry in Colorado. Mark represents the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) on litigation and regulatory issues and serves as outside litigation counsel for the American Petroleum Institute (API). In 2018, Mark represented COGA, API, Extraction, Martin Marietta Materials and other energy companies in high-profile litigation concerning operational preemption between state and local governments, challenges to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission permits and challenges to local government land use permits.

Ronda serves as a strategic advisor for clients on environmental, regulatory and legislative approaches for major projects and legal compliance. She represents a wide range of energy sector companies, including mining, oil and gas and renewable sources. Ronda counsels owners and developers of major projects on environmental and natural resource permitting and regulatory compliance, which often require review under the National Environment Policy Act (NEPA). In addition to NEPA reviews, she guides clients through the issuance of the necessary permits for construction and operation of projects, including permits for water, water quality, wetlands, endangered species, air quality and storage and use of hazardous materials.

The full Who’s Who in Energy list can be found in the DBJ’s Nov. 23 edition.

Mark and Ronda will be honored at a reception at Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel on Dec. 6.
