September 14, 2022

Norm Brownstein, founder and chairman of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was honored with the Lamplighter Award from the American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13. This honor recognized him as a legendary national community leader. Sen. Roy Blunt was also recognized at the event with a Lifetime Public Service Award. Over 25 members of the Senate and House attended the reception honoring Chairman Brownstein.

“A lamplighter is one who illuminates others even as they may retain their own light. Norm is a true lamplighter, he is a towering figure in the nation’s capital in every sense. He’s deeply beloved and respected across the aisle and uses his influence, in addition to his successful business, to help strengthen a myriad of Jewish and other causes that practically help benefit millions of people,” said Rabbi Levi Shemtov, executive vice president of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad). “This was repeatedly expressed by the diverse speakers from both on and off the Hill who participated. Norm’s a quintessential great guy who gets real things done, and everyone likes working with him. Actually, we were honored he was our honoree.”

The annual Lamplighter Awards honor exceptional communal, political, corporate and academic leaders. The event recognizes those who have distinguished themselves in these significant areas of public life. It also offers an opportunity to strengthen the Washington community and support important educational, cultural and humanitarian efforts of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad), a prominent organization in our nation’s capital with unique bipartisan reach and national and global impact.
