Senate Approves DHS Funding, House Set for Final Vote

Brownstein Client Alert, June 5, 2026

The Senate approved the narrow budget reconciliation package funding U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) early in the morning of Friday, June 5, concluding a vote-a-rama that began Thursday morning and lasted nearly 19 hours. The final vote was 52-47, with Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) joining Democrats in opposing the bill. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) was absent from the vote. Senators took roll call votes on 25 amendments and approved none. Three amendments also failed by voice vote, for a total of 28 considered amendments.  Numerous amendments were considered on the Department of Justice’s Anti-Weaponization Fund, including one Republican amendment from Sens. Thom Tillis (R-NC), which ultimately failed. Click here for a complete tracker of the amendments.

The bill will now be considered in the House, where it is expected to be considered—and likely approved. However, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) sent the House home on Thursday, delaying final passage until next week, before heading to President Trump for his signature.
