Law Week Colorado, the foremost publication within the Colorado legal industry, named Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Steve Demby one of its 2013 Lawyers of the Year. Steve is featured among an elite list of attorneys, including state senators, judges and attorneys in private practice, that Law Week Colorado hailed for their legal excellence.
The piece recognizes Steve’s role as outside general counsel for Freeport LNG, leading the team that was responsible for securing a conditional authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy for Freeport LNG to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas (LNG). As a result of Steve and the team’s work, the facility is conditionally authorized to export on its own behalf, or as an agent for others, at a rate of up to 1.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas a day (511 billion cubic feet per year) for a period of 20 years. This is the second license awarded for the export of LNG from the lower 48 states to countries with which trade is not prohibited by U.S. law or policy.
