JFS Recognizes Brownstein with Inaugural Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award

April 07, 2022

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is honored to receive Jewish Family Service of Colorado’s (JFS) inaugural Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award. The firm was recognized for its outstanding commitment to community service at the JFS 150th Anniversary Executive Luncheon on April 4.

“The Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award is a full circle moment for me personally, and it’s a tremendous honor that this award is named after the firm I co-founded with my lifelong friends Steve Farber and Jack Hyatt,” said Norm Brownstein, the firm’s founder and chairman. “JFS was there for me at a pivotal time in my childhood, which changed the course of my life and put me on a path to success. That experience showed me why helping others should always be a priority, and our firm’s culture of giving back began the day we opened our doors in 1968.”

JFS is a nonprofit human services organization that improves the lives of individuals and families in need throughout Colorado. Founded 150 years ago, the organization now offers more than 30 impactful programs and services, including food security, housing stability, mental health counseling, aging care, employment support and disability services. JFS and Brownstein have had a longstanding partnership for over 50 years, including attorneys from the firm serving in leadership roles with JFS and the firm dedicating its time and resources through pro bono efforts, volunteer hours and financial contributions.

Shareholder Aaron Hyatt currently serves as chair of the board of JFS, and he and his wife, Niah Hyatt, co-chaired the Executive Luncheon.

“For 150 years, JFS has served as a safety net for vulnerable individuals and families across Colorado,” said Aaron Hyatt. “We are proud and honored to support this community institution and to help contribute to its critically important mission.”

Moving forward, JFS will annually honor businesses or community organizations for their community service efforts with the Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award.

“JFS is proud to recognize Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck for their incredible partnership and dedication to our shared values of serving the community and those in need of support. It’s our privilege to present this inaugural award to Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck,” said Linda P. Foster, JFS president and CEO. “This Community Leadership Award honors an outstanding business or community organization that demonstrates exceptional leadership and whose commitment to community plays a critical role in advancing JFS’s mission to improve the lives of individuals and families in need throughout Colorado. Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck exemplifies this award in every possible way. Presenting this award to Norm Brownstein, whose personal history is intertwined with JFS, embodies our 150 years of impacting the lives of individuals and families who rely on our programs and services most.”
