Deema Tarazi, senior policy advisor and counsel in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Government Relations Department, has joined the board of directors of A Wider Circle, an organization that advances equity in the greater Washington, D.C., region by fostering the exchange of goods, skills and connections among neighbors and by advocating to address the root causes of poverty.
Tarazi has been involved with A Wider Circle for several years. She first volunteered with the organization, quickly connecting with its mission—particularly its work to provide essential furniture to families in the community. In her three-year term, she will provide strategic guidance, support annual events and help strengthen and expand A Wider Circle’s mission.
“It is wonderful how many households A Wider Circle serves every year to ensure that families have a furnished home,” said Tarazi. “ This piqued my interest as I have never heard of the term furniture poverty before I started working with the organization and wanted to assist in ensuring the term is part of the conversation when talking about affordable housing.”
