Former Democratic Senator and State Attorney General Mark L. Pryor Joins Brownstein

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Mark L. Pryor, a former two-term U.S. senator and Arkansas attorney general, joined the firm today as a shareholder in the Government Relations Department in its Washington, D.C., office. Pryor will play a leading role in furthering the firm’s State Attorneys General and Congressional Investigations groups as well as the federal government relations practice.

Pryor represented Arkansas as a Democratic U.S. senator for two terms. Most recently he served as a partner with Venable Law Firm in Washington, D.C., and was a co-chair of its Attorneys General Group and Congressional Investigations practice. Throughout his career, he has focused on several prominent issues, including communications, internet, privacy, cybersecurity, aviation, automotive, consumer protection, homeland security, FEMA and agriculture.

Pryor began his career in public service when he was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives in 1990. In 1998, he was elected attorney general of Arkansas, where he toughened laws against drunk drivers, enacted legislation to protect children on the internet, prohibited unwanted telemarketing calls and helped establish an alert system to locate missing and exploited children.

Pryor earned his law degree and bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas.
