Kristina Baum Appointed to Three Roots International’s Board of Directors
Kristina Baum, public affairs senior manager at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, has joined the board of directors of Three Roots International, whose mission is to empower families to rise above extreme poverty through education, health and income programs—cultivating community-led change that restores dignity and creates lasting opportunity.
During her two-year term, Baum will support the organization’s fundraising and development efforts while leveraging her experience in strategic communications and global work with underserved populations. She will travel to Ethiopia to serve a rural school and its surrounding community, focusing on education, health care and income generation. She will also serve as co-chair of the organization’s Partnership Advancement Committee, where she will help reengage new donors and pursue additional developing leads for major donors support.
Baum has been involved with Three Roots International for several years, including traveling to Ethiopia to serve the rural community in both 2023 and 2024. She is also in the process of obtaining Trinity CertTESOL certification and plans to apply her formalized experience in teaching English to children in the community.
“ My interest and passion has consistently been for vulnerable people groups in our communities,” she said. “Being in Ethiopia and seeing firsthand how Three Roots International is strategically and intentionally working with families to lift them out of poverty is a lifechanging experience. In working with rural Ethiopia, my worldview permanently shifted and I knew I wanted to be a part of driving lasting community resilience and empowering the women I met to embrace agency. Our role is not to ‘rescue’ them, but to equip, support and get out of the way when they lead, bringing increased dignity and independence to individuals.”
