Melissa Thevenot Named New Leader of the Bar at New Jersey Legal Awards
Melissa Thevenot, an associate in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Atlantic City office, was honored as a New Leader of the Bar at the 2025 New Jersey Legal Awards. Presented by Law.com and the New Jersey Law Journal, the awards celebrate trailblazers, innovators and dedicated professionals who have made a lasting impact on New Jersey’s legal landscape and beyond.
Thevenot focuses her practice on advising national and international operators, suppliers and investors navigating multi-jurisdictional gaming compliance frameworks, including sports wagering and iGaming. She regularly counsels clients on the intersection of gaming law with mergers and acquisitions, private equity and financing arrangements, and works closely with them to build regulator relationships and implement compliant market entry and operating strategies. Leveraging her regulatory insight, she helps clients and their deal teams close sophisticated transactions in highly regulated environments, including managing licensing, background investigations and regulatory issues arising from layered ownership, investment and lending structures. In addition, she brings a strong background in tribal organizations and transactional matters to her gaming practice. She has experience with advising Indian gaming enterprises on compliance with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, fee-to-trust applications and acquisitions for tribal land recovery, federal recognition and Indian lands gaming eligibility.
Thevenot was recognized at a ceremony on Oct. 30.
