Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that Norm Brownstein, a founding member and chairman at the firm, was honored with the Robert E. Loup Hineni Award.
Brownstein is the first recipient of the rededicated award from the Staenberg-Loup Jewish Community Center (JCC Denver). JCC Denver recognizes community leaders in Denver whose philanthropy and volunteer efforts have had a significant impact locally and even globally.
“We are incredibly grateful that Norm agreed to accept this honor,” JCC Denver CEO Lara Knuettel said. “The outpouring of generosity from him, and in honor of him, is unprecedented. As a result, our programming and support for so many families will continue to thrive.”
JCC Denver renamed the award at last year’s dinner, adding Robert E. Loup’s name to honor one of the organization’s longtime leaders. Before his death earlier this year, Bob Loup handpicked Norm as the first recipient of the newly rededicated award bearing his name. The Hebrew word “hineni” translates to “Here I am – Here I stand,” according to JCC Denver.
JCC Denver called Norm “a true visionary” and called his leadership and commitment to the community “nothing less than monumental.”
“Norm’s tremendous contributions have helped the Jewish community reach new heights in influence and impact,” said Larry Mizel, who helped present the award and is chairman and CEO of MDC Holdings. “Norm is a true leader, and we are privileged to honor him this year. No one is more deserving of this prestigious award.”
Along with being a founding member and the namesake of the firm, Norm is nationally recognized for his legal expertise and experience in real estate law, commercial transactions and public policy advocacy. He is also currently vice president of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, a director of National Jewish Health and a trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Center.
Norm received the award at JCC Denver’s 2017 Annual Dinner at the Grand Hyatt Denver on Nov. 1. This year’s dinner was the largest and most successful event in the history of the JCC.
