Sec. Jim Nicholson, senior counsel at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recognized by the Ellis Island Honor Society with the 2023 Medal of Honor. Since 1986, the Ellis Island Honor Society has recognized distinguished and diverse Americans whose achievements have contributed significantly to the philanthropic, artistic, intellectual and humanitarian benefit of the United States and the global community. Sec. Nicholson was recognized for his many years of outstanding public service, military service and business entrepreneurship.
“I am very honored and grateful to have received this nice recognition from the Ellis Island Honor Society,” he said.
Sec. Nicholson served as secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs under President George W. Bush, as U.S. ambassador to the Vatican and as chairman of the Republican National Committee. Now, he counsels clients on policy matters related to veterans affairs, information technology, infrastructure, health care and complex international relations issues. Sec. Nicholson is profoundly respected by policymakers on both sides of the aisle in Washington, D.C., for his competence, candor and integrity. His personal relationships and friendships extend from the highest ranking officials in leadership to working level staff people throughout the government in Washington.
Sec. Nicholson was recognized at a gala ceremony on May 13 at the Ellis Island Great Hall.
