Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck is pleased to announce that it was named to Seramount’s 2022 Best Law Firms for Women list, which recognizes firms that utilize best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers. Brownstein was among the 50 firms that earned spots on this year’s list.
“Our Best Law Firms for Women continue to improve in many critical areas,” said Subha V. Barry, president of Seramount. “Representation of women managing partners has increased significantly and we’ve seen progress for multicultural women lawyers at every level. Our firms recognize the importance of recruiting and retaining this important talent pool and have developed the family-friendly benefits to prove it. All of these combined are important steps toward parity.”
“We’re honored to be named to Seramount’s Best Law Firms for Women list,” said Shareholder Ali Metzl, the firm’s chair of diversity, inclusion and equity and founder and co-chair of Brownstein’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. “Brownstein values and empowers women to pursue their professional and personal goals simultaneously, all while finding meaning in their lives and livelihoods. The firm promotes programs and policies to support the professional and personal development of our women. As a result, we have increased female representation in our equity partnership and leadership ranks and enhanced the external and community recognition for the achievements of our women.”
Additional recognition of the firm’s diversity efforts include being honored at the Denver Business Journal’s inaugural diversity awards, achieving Mansfield Certification for four consecutive years, receiving a perfect score every year from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation on the Corporate Equality Index beginning in 2020 and ranking sixth on Law 360’s 2021 Ceiling Smashers list for firms (251‒600 attorneys) with the highest representation of women in their equity partnerships. Brownstein also received the 2021 Innovation Award from the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce for its creative solutions and practices that develop employees, support their needs and advance women in business.
Seramount’s 2022 Best Law Firms for Women application includes more than 300 questions about attorney demographics at different levels, flexibility, paid time off and parental leaves, and development and retention of women. Questions also include ability to work from home some of the time, family-friendly benefits, and mentoring and sponsorship participation.
