Steve Demby Recognized by JEWISHcolorado with 2023 Community Leadership Award
Steve Demby, a shareholder in Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck’s Corporate & Business Department, was recognized by JEWISHcolorado’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) with its 2023 Community Leadership Award for his long history of philanthropic and political engagement. JCRC, a program of JEWISHcolorado, advocates for policy issues that affect the Colorado Jewish community, representing these views to the Jewish community and to the general community of Colorado.
Demby is passionate about giving back to the community on a local, national and international level. He serves as a national board member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and has been involved in pro-Israel activism and political engagement around the country for decades. His community leadership also includes, among many positions over the years, serving as a current member of the board of directors for National Jewish Health, being a past board member of the Kempe Foundation (chair) and the American Heart Association of Colorado, and being a founding member of the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association.
“Steve has played an important role in the Jewish community and beyond,” said Gov. Jared Polis at the event honoring Demby. “He has devoted his heart and soul to improving the quality of life for Coloradans.”
“I have a strong sense as a Jew to practice tikkun olam—to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves,” Demby said while accepting his award. “Also, we need to support the JCRC. They are on the front line, every day, every year. Finally, engage yourself to make the world a better place every way you can.”
Demby was honored on March 2 at the History Colorado Center. Click here to see JCRC’s video highlighting Demby and his advocacy of and commitment to the Jewish community.
