Office Managing Partner
Background
Chambers-ranked intellectual property litigator. Experienced and innovative counsel focused on biotech, pharma, life sciences and medical device industries.
A first-chair trial lawyer, Anne Li represents life sciences clients in complex intellectual property matters, deploying practical, business-oriented strategies both in and out of the courtroom. She prioritizes achieving the best result for clients long before litigation becomes necessary. When trial is the right path, she litigates decisively and effectively. Her clients develop cutting-edge products and technologies that often raise novel questions at the intersection of collaboration and competition. Anne has secured key wins in high-stakes, bet-the-company matters, frequently obtaining favorable outcomes well before trial.
Clients rely on Anne for strategic and actionable counsel on patents, unfair competition and trade secrets. She invests deeply in understanding each client’s business—from emerging biotech companies to global pharmaceutical leaders—allowing her to build tailored strategies grounded in both legal and technological insight. Anne’s practice is strengthened by long-standing relationships with in-house counsel and her active leadership in the William C. Conner Inn of Court and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association.
In addition to her intellectual property practice, Anne has developed a significant international trade litigation practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade. She represents companies challenging tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), and following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision striking down the IEEPA-based tariffs, continues to guide clients through the evolving refund and compliance landscape. Anne works closely with Brownstein’s Government Relations team to monitor developments and assess every strategic angle as new issues emerge, ensuring clients can respond quickly and effectively.
