Background
Republican national security strategist at the intersection of defense and critical technologies. Foreign policy advisor with a focus on national and economic security. Leader in National Defense Authorization Act strategy.
Brandt Anderson adeptly navigates the constantly shifting landscape of national security, defense and emerging technologies. He develops and executes advocacy strategies to capitalize on policy inflection points in domestic defense issues, including the annual National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the defense appropriations process. His deep understanding of U.S. security policy and emerging technologies, combined with Republican priorities, makes him a trusted advisor to a broad range of clients.
Brandt’s policy expertise was developed during his years on Capitol Hill, where he served in both the House and Senate, handling national security matters. His connections to Republicans on the Hill enable him to keep clients at the center of debates surrounding artificial intelligence and industrial policy, while also providing pertinent insights to clients with foreign affairs interests from the Middle East to the Pacific. While on Capitol Hill, Brandt played a key role in Sen. Todd Young’s (R-IN) office, leading the formation, drafting and bipartisan coalition building efforts of the CHIPS and Science Act, as well as advising on issues before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Before joining Sen. Young’s office, Brandt worked with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), handling matters before the Senate Armed Services Committee. He also served in the House, working on military and national security issues under Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) and the late Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN). Brandt is an Army veteran, serving as an officer and helicopter pilot during U.S. operations in Afghanistan.
