Background

Hayley Zech Hughes is a dynamic real estate attorney with experience advising on transactional, regulatory and financing matters. She combines her in‑house experience and government service to effectively collaborate with clients, their business teams and stakeholders.

Before joining Brownstein, Hayley was most recently corporate counsel at United Wholesale Mortgage and previously practiced with a boutique investor-focused law firm. Her background includes a strong foundation in energy, environmental and regulatory law. During law school, she interned with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Department of the Interior and the California Department of Transportation’s Legal Division. She also participated in her law school’s energy law clinic and worked on energy and policy initiatives with the Energy Policy Initiatives Center.

While in law school, Hayley was editor in chief of the San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law.
