Matt Grinney leverages his experience in the executive branch, Congress and the financial services industry to achieve policy victories for clients through legislation, regulation and executive action. In the first Trump term, he was a senior advisor at the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and a speechwriter for former Vice President Mike Pence, former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price, and earlier for Senator Mike Lee (R-UT). Most recently, as managing director at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), Matt represented broker-dealers, investment banks and asset managers before Congress and regulators on issues ranging from capital markets reform to tax policy.

With experience in the Senate, the White House, the mortgage market regulator and the capital markets’ trade group, Matt possesses the political acumen, policy knowledge, communications skills and deep ties across Congress and the administration to drive progress in Washington. He understands how to influence policy, delivering client results through strategic messaging, navigating complex legislative and regulatory processes, and building coalitions inside and outside the Beltway.

At SIFMA, Matt was an effective advocate for expanding access to capital, strengthening public and private markets and enhancing Americans’ retirement security. At FHFA, he helped develop and communicate the administration’s plans to reform Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the housing finance system. As Vice President Pence’s speechwriter, he collaborated with key decisionmakers to develop messaging to support the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the administration’s plans to revitalize the space industry.
