Background
Shelby Slaughter brings a strong foundation in environmental and land use law to her practice at Brownstein. She returns after a summer associateship with the firm, where she conducted in-depth legal research and analysis on water rights, tribal law and land use issues. This experience bolstered her research with UCI Law CLEANR, where she studied climate action plans in land use strategy.
Shelby’s legal background also includes her internship with the Los Angeles County Counsel’s Office in the Property Division, where she supported advisory and litigation tax matters involving property tax assessments, historic preservation and film permitting ordinances.
Shelby deepened her practical experience at UC Irvine’s Environmental Law Clinic, where she analyzed statewide organic waste laws and contributed to faculty research on Arctic sustainability, land use and climate action planning.
