Brownstein Welcomes Matthew Brooks as Senior Strategic Advisor

April 14, 2026

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck announced today that Matthew Brooks has joined the firm as a senior strategic advisor. Brooks brings more than three decades of Republican political leadership to the role, having served for that time as chief executive officer of both the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), an organization dedicated to strengthening ties between the Jewish community and the Republican Party, and the Jewish Policy Center, a think tank that examines public policy through a Jewish lens.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) had this to say about Brooks: “Matt has been a good friend, a warrior against antisemitism, and a trusted and tremendously effective partner to me and our entire party for several decades. I wish him great success in his new role at Brownstein.”

“Matt is extraordinarily connected with House Republican Leadership, Senate Republican Leadership and the White House,” said Will Moschella, co-chair of Brownstein’s Government Relations Department.  “He has worked for decades to build ties across the Republican party with a focus on the American-Israeli alliance, which gives him unique credibility and an understanding of how to navigate complex issues in Washington, D.C.”

Brooks began his political career as state chairman of the Massachusetts College Republicans while still an undergraduate at Brandeis University. He went on to manage the Jack Kemp for President campaign in Massachusetts and direct projects across New Hampshire and New England. In 1988, he became political director of the Republican Jewish Coalition. Taking a leave of absence that same year, he served as national field director for the Victory ‘88 Jewish Campaign Committee, designing and implementing campaign strategy for the Bush–Quayle ticket. Brooks was appointed executive director of the RJC in 1990. Brooks has been recognized multiple times for his national influence, including being named one of the Forward’s “50 Most Influential Jews in America” in both 2006 and 2008. Brooks holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from Brandeis University.

“I have been fortunate to work closely with Matt Brooks for decades,” said Brownstein’s Founder and Chairman Norman Brownstein. “Matt has been an incredibly dedicated leader for decades while running two of D.C.’s premier advocacy organizations simultaneously. Combined with his intuitive understanding of politics and policy, we are excited for Matt to hit the ground running with our expanding team in Washington.”

“I’m honored to join Brownstein at a time when the intersection of business and politics has never been more consequential,” said Brooks. “I’m excited to help clients navigate that complexity and deliver results for them.”

Brooks’ hire is part of a broader expansion of Brownstein’s Government Relations practice. Recent additions have included Trent Morse, President Trump’s former deputy assistant to the president and deputy director of the White House Personnel Office; Bart Reising, former deputy chief of staff to House Majority Leader Steve Scalise; Elliott Guffin, Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s director of federal affairs and lead for the Governor’s co-chairmanship of President Trump’s Council of Governors; and Brian McGuire, the Department of Treasury’s assistant secretary for legislative affairs during the first Trump administration.

While at Brownstein, Brooks will continue in his current roles at RJC and the Jewish Policy Center so that he can continue to educate Republican political leaders on the enduring importance of the American-Israeli alliance and the need to stamp out antisemitism wherever it may exist.
